Machine Shop

T.E.S.T. has an in-house machine shop, unique to a laboratory, with capability to fabricate parts and instrumentation for standard and project-specific testing needs. The following is a limited sample of the instrumentation and tools in the machine shop:

• Lathe machines

• Various electrical saws, drills, thread-making instruments
• Grinding and sanding machines
• Hydraulic presses and dies
• Thread-making instrumentation
• Digital measurement tools

In the past, T.E.S.T. developed, designed, and built the following:

• Flexible wall Permeability boards
• Permeability cells
• Consolidometers
• Soil processor (pneumatic)
• Direct shear machine
• High capacity UCS machine (for rock testing)
• Hydraulic extrusion apparatus (for shelby tubes and proctor)
• Fume hood
